It was all just a distraction, in reality I was sitting on the toilet and keeping an eye on all your movements on the site, directly in the beltchecker database.
If you were on the toilet, surely it's your own movements you should have been paying attention to...

this morning i downvote a blue belt profile for having no evidence of promotion
Christian G messaged me that to be fair, the guy get his promotion confirmed by his certified coach..
i apologize sincerely.
i misunderstood, I thought that the confirmation of the coach, alone, could not be enough and that we had to ask for proof ...

I have down voted even with the coaches validation, especially upper belts. Like the original poster stated pictures are needed. For me as well. If someone fills out there profile with the best of their abilities and if they don't have a picture for a particular belt but in comments have a explanation i can give it a pass. It's about showing your jiu-jitsu journey, and leaving a history of your legacy in jiu-jitsu. People should show their pride in how far they have come in jiu-jitsu from the beginning of their journey. For bluebelt I'm a little more lenient with it being their first belt. But my feeling is you did the right thing. If you look at any of my disputes I explain as to why I am disputing, and try to be polite while doing the dispute. And try helping them I getting their profile so others will want to vote for them. For me no pictures is a definite no vote for me regardless of belt color.

I think you can, and should, vote pretty much however you want. I would add that your decisions should also be well thought out. We're collectively making our own rules here.

Believe it or not, some people don't like being photographed, even in 2021.
I've been with my coach for 9+ years and I think we have zero photos together.
We don't really take promotion pictures in the gym that would qualify as "evidence" to most. They're just the person wearing their new belt.
Don't get rank certificates issued either.
Only recently I added photos to my promotions on here. They are of my bruised back after the gauntlet, pretty much only ones that were taken on that day.

Nothing to apologize about at all, you can vote by ANY criteria you want! I have zero power to decide that for you :)

But as i think it would be good to have some "standard criteria" for verifiying, i took it like "a rule"
The funniest part is that the Guy have a blue belt promotion pic in his profile but not in his promotion hystory so i didn't payed attention to it...so i apologize to him..

Take some new pics with your coach. Not as good as promotion pics on the day, but at least shows something. ;)

a picture with your tied belt and the coach side to you => everybody will see that your profile is legit (at leaést your actual belt)...no?
maybe a link to social media with pictures and training pics etc etc

Ha - wait, Olivier is in Belgium! I can't speak for how literal Belgians are, assuming you're from there too, Olivier? I wouldn't want to assume based on location. After all, I'm in the UK, but I'm from basically everywhere in Europe: Turkish father, German mother, Dutch aunt, born in Belgium, I think there's some Greek in there too, but I live in the UK. ;)

Ha - I love Belgium. I considered seeing if being born there meant I could get a passport, but then I've already got a German one so that would seem pointless. Hopefully Niels' camp in Leuven happen either in Autumn this year or some time next year. :D

I'm biased as I was born there, but Belgium is a wonderful country, cool people, absolutely incredible art and magnificent BJJ camps. The BJJ Globetrotters Leuven Camp was my favourite (I went to all four of them), so I was excited to see that Niels had set up camps at the same venue, meaning quite a few of my friends from the previous camps went. Plus I already know Leuven pretty well in terms of getting around and where to stay, so that appeals a lot. :D

Brethren, Why, on this green earth, would you go through the trouble of completing a profile, without adding A SINGLE DAMN PICTURE of you with your instructor, OR EVEN DOING JIU JITSU, FOR THAT MATTER?!!!!11!!?1 You managed to stick around long enough to get someone crazy enough to promote your ass, but you can't get him/her on camera... IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 20-MOTHEREFFING-21 PICS, or it didn't happen!

That's why I stick to a certain criteria, I would rather vote for people, and not have to dibute, but my God some people force the disbute on themselves.
