It's obvious that drama drives traffic. People love that shit. And there's just not drama all the time to keep forums boiling; which is completely normal and expected. However, even in these periods where the forum is not super active, user adoption of the site is still very stable. Steadily registering quite many new members every day since launch, so the platform is self sustainable in that area at least :)
Well then I think we need to bring back the Lasu drama!

I'm sure there are enough profiles that have been upvoted without enough rigor that we could stir up drama by calling others out if it's really about drama. Even just have a thread automatically start for disputes to get more eyes on them and start dramatic discussions about them.

Nice discussion going on here!
Chris - that's the thing, you seem to be verified by people who know you. If THEY would be willing to chime in for students YOU have, that'd already be enough. For a lto of below-black belts the problem is they can't get their own instructor here even.
Clifford - LOL not reading the thread, but nice idea - it's a matter of resources though and if designing Beltchecker to a better training-diary tool is actually what's lacking and what would drive engagement, that's questionable.
Brian - you hit the nail on the head with problem statement - essentially regularly here are a few people who seem to be enjoying interacting on BJJ topics with the crowd who's here. I originally thought the pull would be stronger - I myself find this dedicated non-anonymous setting much more pleasant than any FB group or Reddit thread. However for most people this does not seem to be the case. I do not agree on your solution though - the REWARD shouldn't be designed in a way that essentially creates a conflict of interest for people handing out the votes. It'd be like paying teachers based on the amount of good grades they give out and then saying that oh wow, such good schools, average grades are rising!
Regarding people DMing for votes - I don't get many of those :D Maybe because I've made my verification criteria really clear and don't want to deviate from that. However I do see that the site does not function based on personal connections only unfortunately. So I appreciate Rigoberto :) and others doing the heavy lifting :)

@Jorgen, thanks for taking time to reply. I appreciate productive discussion.
To be honest, I haven't fully explored this site (instructional videos, etc) I will check those features too. "Input Training hours" caught my attention so this is what keeps me busy in this site.
I would like to make friends here, so I'll check the newsfeeds too.

As limited as my YT platform is, I still took it upon myself to create a video discussing the site and to an extent it’s purpose and some benefits.
Perhaps BJJ Globetrotters could produce (or if already in existence) lead a push to circulate / recirculate some official attention.
The southeastern portion of the U.S. seems to have quite low numbers in regards to gyms both on Belt Checker and Globetrotters, yet I have still had guests find our academy and has teammates find other academies in our region.
Perhaps expressing this site as a directory and resource could be a new approach to growing the platform.
Lastly, is there a Belt Checker FB page or Group?
FYI: I haven’t had any verification issues and having just registered a new promotion this weekend I’m already nearing 50% on the first day.

Let's get some Beltchecker patches, and Globetrotter ones again. I'd rock those on my gi, and be able to chat about this more easily when asked at my new school...

@Clifford you're already able to edit notes for each class you log under training history. You can add as much or as little detail as you like

Hello Adam, yes i can add details on the remarks but what i mean is to be able to display it into the chart. for example what submissions that i always get caught with, or which guard pass/guard/submission I get to drill a lot this month.
I initially proposed it because I thought it would gain more activity in this website but thinking about it, it'll just burden the site and defeat the actual purpose of this site. It should be another application altogether.

My coach has been a black belt for almost 2 months. Very well documented profile, but still not verified. I don't have any stats to back it up, but it seems like the more members we get, the slower verifications take. IMO the crux of the issue is very little user engagement or reward for being here. The objective is to get verified, then.....? There really isn't an external motivator for continued engagement beyond the verification of your current belt. A number of folks even got verified early on, and simply haven't come back even after getting promoted. At the very least, a more complete virtual rewards system could potentially drive more engagement. If you verify X amount of profiles you get X amount of points for a leaderboard or access to a special forum with seminars..etc. Perhaps badges on profiles to signify levels of community involvement. (just throwing out ideas here)
I just looked up your instructor Mike Wood. I was able to find your official website on the internet and see that the A-Force Affiliation posted a review on Google. You may tell him to link his website to his profile as well as ask his instructor to list his academy location on the A-force page to help validate him. He has enough photos of his promotions with Andre to get my 20 Votes.

also the more active you are on the site and the forums, the more likely people will see your name and click on your profile to have a look.

A lot of people have yet to grasp that concept.

Hadn’t really thought about this before, but how many of us (I am guilty) have NOT actually put a link on our website or Acedmy social media page to Beltchecker.com?
I’m in the process of designing a new website for my school and will make sure that happens, as well as updating my social media.
