As I’m reading these responses, I wanted to mention something that I don’t think is always considered and that’s the complete introverts ☺️ Those of us, on here and also in everyday life, we usually hang back, observe, and don’t draw a lot of attention.
I’m reading some of these responses about dismissing or even downvoting profiles that don’t have a lot of information or don’t have competition info or footage. I love training jiu jitsu and the bond that you create with your teammates and practitioners all over. But I’m the quiet one that trains for me and I don’t compete, so I’m not going to be well known or have a lot to add. I also try to be reserved with the amount of info I’m willing to post on a public platform.
Soooo, please don’t overlook all of us quiet ones that that are legit, but likely hiding in the back of the room lol

I don't think you would need anything more than a full profile and some sort of proof of promotion in order to get verified. I'm also a fairly introverted person (but I do compete a lot). Posting on the forums like you're already doing will get attention as well.

the 'oh there was no pictures taken at the promotion don't fly with me. There is ALWAYS cameras around.
Young one, there was a time in ancient history when we went to class, even to seminars, without a camera or even a phone without a camera in our pocket or training bag. Although I would agree for newer promotions. Most white belt stripes I award nowadays are more photo documented than my own promotion to blue or purple belt.

Yes that was then, this is now. Now these days there is ALWAYS a camera around. So I agree that any legit colored belt should be able to provide picture vertification of there rank. That could be as easy as a picture wearing the gi and belt next to there instructor.

OOOOH how the times have changed XD

And with all that said, you still have a perfectly acceptable amount of documentation to become verified.

And this is why I only reconfirm votes if the person voted for me back when I initially voted for them.
Oh so I have to vote for you, my bad... as Christian say hold my beer. LOL

You’ve already voted for me and there’s no way to take it back.

Guess you have to wait for me to get promoted and then you can choose to not reconfirm. I just wouldn’t hold your breath waiting on that promotion though.

i was looking at profile and give my vote when it seems ok, by promotion pictures, time of trainings, results,...but as we know, some people can easily build a fake profile, you can't never be 100% sure, but i'm not scared of voting, because if people starts to be shy, then the guys who arrives here knowing nobody would never be validated and will made an horrible publicity against this community, i think that if you have doubt, you can also just send a message to the guys and ask them about their journey

I'm too lazy to write diplomas, but as a promoting instructor, I don't think I've ever had a student not happy about getting the opportunity to have a promotion picture taken. I think more instructors could help more (pro)actively with making sure students get promotion evidence. Not having a clear promotion picture (that cannot be confused with a mere pose picture) taken, together with the promoting instructor, even for black belt just seems off.

100% agree. I have decided that when there is a promotion at my accademy I will sneak of to the side to take some picture of them receiving the belt. The I give it to them to use.

So far I've only voted for people that I know personally. But I'm willing to do some investigative work for anyone who I can verify through my extended network.

Pretty much the same as you all with evidence and photos. If you bother to check and verify my profile I normally check yours and if it meets the criteria of being well documented then I vote back.
