So, that statement, combined with saying that 'Votes on here are only valid on here. Has no significance outside of beltchecker and does not tie you to anyones promotion. Do you what you will but votes have no value outside of Beltchecker.' Makes this whole site a very weird, self-contained, but ultimately meaningless thing. I have no issues with people voting however they choose. But I think if most folks went mostly based off of actually rolling with whoever they voted for then it would add a lot more legitimacy. Full disclosure - almost every time I get on here, I look in the 'needing votes' section and am hunting for someone who needs 50 points or less, so that my vote is the one that pushes them over the top (assuming their profile looks legit).

Everything is meaningless until someone gives it meaning or value. Diamonds are not rare yet they are overpriced and treated as something of high value because of artificial scarcity. It's bullshit. For sure it would be interesting to see who's voting, and the numbers of verification for each profile. I think that a lot of people just get verified and don't vote so much after it. Maybe i'm wrong...

As there is no actual verification that the Gracies ever actually trained with Maeda we are all FRAUDS and deserve to be downvoted..

I haven't looked in to the evidence of França and non Gracie lineages, but I suspect there could be similar questions raised there. Also, I won't argue against you regarding the thugish acts of the Gracie lineage founders happening. There are actually some profiles on Beltchecker which have Jacyntho Ferro inbetween Maeda and Carlos, which might actually be more likely. In either case, I don't remember ever reading any claims of Carlos actually being promoted by Maeda and in either case, still today, it is common practice in many lineages with senior teachers showing up just ocassionally and handing out belts according to the recommendation of their junior instructors. Blue belt (which was all the founders wore initially), even by today's time standards, isn't unthinkable if we include instruction one step removed from Maeda. Since BJJ is another art and it's not claimed to be the same art as that of Maeda, we just have to decide if we accept the lineages starting from Carlos Gracie or França. And from there and on, I actually think the lineages are quite well documented. And if they're not, why not downvote them? ;-)
