Today I discovered that my blue belt has been removed from BeltChecker—disputed by the very black belt who originally promoted me.

This raises an important question for the entire community:

Is BeltChecker a historical record of promotions, or a registry of continuing loyalty?

I’m not asking for a specific resolution.
I only ask that the community take a moment to examine the precedent this sets.

Thank you for your time.

I looked up your profile and the BJJ blackbelt, who promoted you to BJJ blue belt, has confirmed that he promoted you!
As far as I understand he only disputes that he doesn’t have anything to do with the style of grappling you teach and train now, what you call „Dave Jitsu“…..
I don’t question your legitimacy or skills, but maybe your former coach just doesn’t want to get involved in your new or different approach of grappling….just a guess.

What is the ranking system in Dave Jutsu? As I understood you are the coach and developer of this grappling art.

I can understand that the person who promoted you to blue belt might wan't to distance himself from it.

He can teach any other art he wishes we are only here to judge his BJJ belt rank. If hes not doing BJJ it is strange to request offical ranking in BJJ. Would be clearer if he was to setup dave-jitsu-checker.com

I appreciate all of the questions but none of these change the fact that my promoting instructor officially disputed my grading to blue belt in BJJ on beltchecker.

Dave Jitsu has no ranking system, it is how I named my modules and methods for teaching submission grappling.

Because I coach submission wrestling does not change the fact that I was graded to blue belt in BJJ and is now officially disputed by my promoting instructor.

Creating your own grappling style after four years of training aside; I agree it would have made more sense if he had downvoted you on DaveJitsuChecker.com instead

Apart from creating his own „style“ of grappling, which he named „Dave Jitsu“(really?), his former coach, who is a legit BJJ black belt, here confirmed that Dave was promoted to BJJ blue belt, which he still is, independent of what he teaches now.
So I would consider his BJJ bluebelt and his promotion to BJJ bluebelt legit.

Creating a modern version of *insert combat sport* is an important step for every beginner.
I named my style “Zhoozhitsu do Graugardo” when I started teaching as a white belt (no joke) ❤️

He was actually clear and concise with his vote... he did confirm your Blue Belt but was distancing himself and making it clear he doesn't think you should be teaching and wants to distance himself from it... It's the reason I voted for you as he did confirm it.

I am not going to comment on if you should be teaching .. Hell some guy named Helio trained a little while in one art decided he knew better changed the name and actually came up with a fictitious training background and history and it worked out.. The mats will always be the proof

Yep 👍🏼! I know a lot of people (blackbelts today) who started teaching while at the same time learning BJJ since whitebelt or bluebelt via seminars or living in remote areas not having daily or weekly access to blackbelts, because there weren’t enough blackbelts….
Christian Graugart is one famous example and proof it’s possible.

If you have to „create“ your own grappling system and give it a new name as a BJJ bluebelt, is another thing…. Each his own.

Not to get confused…. I meant it in a very positive way, that it’s possible to climb up the ranks slowly and develop good skills although learning that way…. That’s why I mentioned you, Christian…

Oh absolutely, I totally enjoyed the slow but adventurous process and would have done it all over again!

Love it and a huge inspiration! My BJJ journey isn’t as adventurous as yours, Christian, but there are definitely some similarities and I am proud to (very) slowly have gained the knowledge, experience and skills and have climbed the ranks slowly in that way of learning Jiu Jitsu like you did (and lots of other people who today are legit blackbelts) without having daily access to blackbelts….it clearly shows it’s possible!
Look what you achieved and where you are now, Christian! Amazing!
