I’ll vote when you change your start date to when you began Jiu Jitsu not wrestling.

I have to agree. Also messes up site statistics with incorrect dates.

Chance, can you please show me pics of catch wrestlers from the late 1860s and 1870s wearing BJJ white belts? No one is trying to claim you didn't step on the mat of a similar martial art in 1995 or that BJJ has no relations with catch wrestling or Judo.
But you have to look at what the information you enter in your promotion history is used for. E.g. does someone claiming black belt really have 4½y minimum between white and black belt? What is the average age of starting to train BJJ, internationally and in certain countries? How long is the average from white to blue belt and so on?
I'm quite certain that a very large portion of members here have trained other grappling arts before going into BJJ. I personally stepped on the judo mat probably in the 80:s the first time, but still don't enter that as my white belt date.
You can still mention your other grappling arts background in the free text under the white belt or just in your presentation.

There wouldn’t be pictures of catch wrestlers wearing white belts because belt systems weren’t used. And catch is what influenced judo to help create bjj. So your initial question has a big flaw. How can you wear your rank if there were no ranks? I’ve never said I was a black belt. I’ve only claimed the belt I was given. The traditionalists here are making the community toxic. This is a perfect example. I’ve had people verify they rolled with me . My leader has even vouched a fourth degree black belt and other blackbelts but that’s not enough for the traditionalists. So the argument being placed doesn't hold weight even in court. It’s just traditionalists downvoting because they see wrestling and don’t acknowledge the legitimacy of no just catch by regular or international styles of wrestling. The bigger issue is that these other arts claim wrestling but don’t have a wrestling checker….because wrestling is part of everything. Literally the original. So Thankyou very much for your input but it seems the traditionalists are being nazis about this. I have messages from other black belts naming yourself and others as pushing this way of thinking on this site. I have been downvoted for my history reflecting wrestling and catch wrestling and stating I’m a 2 stripe blue. This is ridiculous

The question behind the down votes is "Are you sure you want to dispute the accuracy or verifiability of the profile information and/or belt history for Chance Markoff?".
Jay writing "His blue belt promotion was done by one of my black belts Zach Nichols" is more than enough for me to trust the accuracy of your blue belt claim, BUT the vote is about the accuracy of your entire belt history, not just the blue belt. And you being a BJJ white belt in 1995 is no more true than Karelin being a white belt in 1995. That is not me being traditionalist, toxic or not recognizing him doing more than great on A mat (or quite a few of them) in 1995. It's just that he (as far as I know) never stepped on a BJJ mat in 1995 and never put a white BJJ belt around his waist in 1995.
No matter your previous martial arts experience, this is BJJ and I'm sure your previous experience will help you a lot. But facts remain, in BJJ, your most important promotion was when you decided the time was right for you to put on a BJJ white belt and step on the BJJ mat.

Johan this shows how little the ones running the verifications know! Alexander Katelin trained in Soviet Russia in rooms with Bjj and catch practitioners! Why? Because that’s the tradition and culture! Ever heard of Fedor emelianko? Or Arden fadziev? What about besik kudukhov or even khabib? These people and many others were all training together in the same arts! But chose which ones they wanted to push further in. Again this is showing the lack of value given to wrestlers catch and non traditionalists. So yes your point is incorrect. So again the downvote is from the wrestling just like a few others even stated on my profile. This is just proving my point Jonah. And this response also shows why I’m getting messages from others on here telling me how toxic this community is becoming and how you and others are constantly knit picking peoples expierence. So yes my expierence is valid you even stated that earlier and still downvoted me. Who’s the Hippocrate here now?

So again because I did it with my family/culture and a non traditionalists way and without a Gi I’m to be downvoted

Jonah did you even look at the pictures and other verifiers? If you did you would see proof and evidence. You would be the person that would Also say Henry Cejudo is a white belt too 🤦🏻

Jonah please explain why I should change my white belt start time when I was training chokes and submissions in 1995.

I began training chokes and submissions myself before I had even heard of BJJ, so how could I had been a BJJ white belt then? How do those semantics even matter for a date which is effectively used to calculate BJJ specific statistics?
Sure I saw your pictures, but where is the BJJ white belt? If you are an elite squash or tennis player and have played since 1995, I'm sure you'd completely destroy me in padel or pickleball. But if you first set foot on a padel or pickleball court in 2020, I'd still dispute that you started those sports in 1995. No matter how toxic you or anyone else would think I am for it and no matter how many old tennis and squash pictures you showed me.
Out of interest, when did you first put on a BJJ belt and enter a BJJ mat? Also, did you go directly from white belt to blue with two stripes and then not even a new stripe for soon to be six years? Went back to just wrestling training for a number of years, or what is your story? Other grappling arts are excellent too and I'm sure Jay's black belts have excellent BJJ to offer you as well when you want it.
