Bio

I've been training in traditional JJ since 1980 and I'm currently an 8th Dan. I started my journey in BJJ under Trevor Birmingham in 2015 and really enjoy the competitions, just wish there were more older guys competing as organisers think its fine to just drop you down some brackets and put you in with some ripped 30 year olds.. but I value my joints to much..

Hi Johan, Those are the certificates I was presented with, I'm guessing they have used the script font instead of actual signatures. I'm not so hot on the social media, but will try and find some pictures, thanks for the heads up.

Printed certificates with no signatures. Do you have other evidence? Promotion pictures, social media links to posts on your promotion etc.

"I verify Michael's black belt rank based on external evidence from Smoothcomp records, academy details, and local Andover Radio news (Nov 2025), which corroborates his ownership of Kyouken MMA & Jiu Jitsu, double bronze at JJIF Worlds in Thailand (matching his claimed medals), Japanese Ju Jitsu black belt since 1984 (8th Dan coral), and BJJ brown belt status with imminent black belt promotion. Trevor Birmingham, black belt under Alex De Souza with IBJJF titles, had authority to promote Michael on December 9, 2025, after ~2 years at brown (exceeding IBJJF minimums). Progression from 2015 purple, certificates, and Sussex Open golds support legitimacy."
