Sorry, did not mean to mislead anyone. Anyway, we are not an IBJJF affiliated academy but try to adhere to their standards. My instructor is an Alliance BB under Jacare however we do not keep close ties to that association any more. There were some issues with the BB co-promoter, Jonathan Thomas, mainly IBJJF not aknowledging JT’s second degree due to him not being registered with them continuously despite his time served as a black belt.

Lepri and Jacaré jointly promoted Jonathan to black belt in late 2013, so it's up to him and not IBJJF whether he was a 2:nd degree BB or higher at the date of your promotion. If he registered on Beltchecker, I think he would be quickly verified as at least a 2:nd degree BB and he could then confirm your promotion here.

Yeah, I am sure no one here would question JT’s legitimacy, will see with him if he is interested in signing up.

Hi Johan, Thank you for your vigiliance and you are 100% correct. I don't have the necessary rank to promote to black belt so the promotions were done under Jon's supervision like Goran said. Goran posted some photos of the promotion with Jon. Hope this is proof enough until Jon signs up.

Would need to be clear who was actually the promoting instructor ("promoted by"). Not the same as the person who recommended a more senior BB to award the degree. Neither is it the person who officiated the BB promotion in the name of a more senior BB (who might or might not have been physically present at the promotion ceremony). As I see it, you can't be the promoting instructor "under supervision of" a more senior BB. You would still be the officiant under his name or the one haven given the recommendation to him. Secondary co-promoter is pushing it, but something I'm usually ok with (especially if the instructors' degrees are written out, so it's totally transparent).

Thanks!
