Bio
Hi! I grew up in martial arts as a kid and got introduced to wrestling in high school. I joined the Army in 2006 and quickly learned the history of the Gracie family and Matt Larson, father of the Modern Army Combatives Program. Jiu jitsu was taught as part of a complete fighting system, which fascinated me.
I continued learning in the Army until 2017, when I joined Gracie Barra El Paso in Texas, USA. I’ve been training in El Paso since then. I started teaching kids classes in 2020, and adult noon classes shortly after. I’m not much of a competitor, but I competed in El Paso and Albuquerque, NM until Brown belt.

ZAs of 1/8/26, the IBJJF black belt certification website lists Jeff Vigil as a certified 3rd degree black belt at Gracie Barra El Paso, which made him eligible to promote John on 7/4/24. https://ibjjf.com/certifi[...]lack-belts
JDifficult to find evidence online on Alencar (https://www.bjjheroes.com[...]sa-alencar) promoting Jeff to his original BB (and when). If you can link to where evidence can be seen, I'm sure you'll get verified.
JRThank you I’ll take this advice

"As of 1/8/26, the IBJJF black belt certification website lists Jeff Vigil as a certified 3rd degree black belt at Gracie Barra El Paso, which made him eligible to promote John on 7/4/24. <https://ibjjf.com/certified-black-belts> John's times served are consistent with IBJJF minimums: white (1y1m), blue (2y4m > 2y), purple (2y5m > 1.5y), brown (1y1m > 1y). Promoters Francisco DeLeon and Jeff Vigil are legitimate. Smoothcomp records show him competing as purple belt in 2021-2022, including silver at NAGA El Paso (Feb 2021) and participation at NAGA New Mexico (Dec 2022, Albuquerque area), validating his competition claims up to brown."
"Lots of high quality photo evidence. Legit!"
"Pictures and Zeke‘s validation of John! "
