"Luis really shouldn't had promoted anyone to BB in early 2020 as he himself was a no degree BB (BB in 2017) according to his own profile. If someone else was the actual promoting instructor, please correct your promotion history."

Says who, the IBJJF? Pfft, come roll with Spencer or Luis and when you can kick either of their asses, the you can talk shit.

But the offer to come train and determine whether cult-based standards determine black belts, or ones knowledge and abilities determine black belts, stands. Duspu5ing my 13 years or hard work and effort to be the cult-based standards police is very Low T for a Swedish man.

Promoted on the permission of Matt Arroyo through Luis Mata. All is good here, also different affiliations run things differently. They’re through the Royce Gracie Lineage and have different times in rank for promotions past black belt. This isn’t the IBJJF

Spencer, he had NOT yet been a BB even for 3 years, according to his own promotion history on his profile. The senior BB:s only promoting new BB:s standard has been around for longer than IBJJF. You are welcome to dig up the old forum threads where I've spent significant time putting forth arguments and answer there and I might answer back if you add any new perspectives. How is that supposed to be determined through training? Belts don't just magically appear when training, they are a construct on which there are different views in the BJJ community. Some thinking the 2:nd degree standard is relevant and some don't and both is ok to think, that's one of the thoughts behind creating Beltchecker in the first place. You don't have to train, just use logic, to see that all else equal, the ones not caring about the 2:nd degree standard will approve all which the ones who think the standard is important will approve but not the other way around. So up to everyone what standards to go by.

Matt has not signed the diploma, is not in the promotion photo and is not written as "promoted by" instructor. I can only vote for what spencer has put up here. "Permission" is not the same as Matt being the actual promoting instructor, promoting with Luis as a proxy. Implicit "permissions" being issued left and right is really no different from not adhering to the 2:nd degree standard in the first place. But Matt is on Beltchecker, so it's easily fixed by just changing promoting instructor (no problem having Luis as "junior co-promoter" or similar) and having Matt confirm it using his profile. Would recommend doing the changes when it's time for the 1:st stripe (timewise, it's due), where the voting points would be reset anyways.

1) You arent 8th degree red and white belt Royce Gracie who makes our standards. And B) the reasoCAn for belt checker was for the peers of eachother to approve of their ranks in a point based democratic manner. You have yoyr right to seek a high horse and place or impose yoyr expectations on my promotion, but the fact remains that point A and point B result in your opinion being irrelevant and intentionally egocentric. The offer is always here if you're ever stateside to let me know where you want to train, and I'm very open to rolling and seeing whether the standards of my rolling and knowledge meet tour expectations of what a black belt is.

Hello johan, to give you a little clarity I was promoted to professor in 2019 by Rob Khaun my instructors coach. You can see the picture on my gallery. Just like Josh stated we have a different time frame for promotions in our network. Being under the Royce Gracie network. you can be sure that anyone we promote is highly legit and respected in our community. You were always welcome to come to Florida and exchange techniques and knowledge as well.

Luis, Beltchecker is adapted for the standard ranking system and doesn't have a "blue belt black belt" or a differentiated white bar black belt with 1-3 degrees before reaching black with red bar, where you can also get the instructor bars (https://pdfcoffee.com/beltsystem-pdf-free.html). So fourth rank in order after the black belt promotion before reaching instructor's status and promoting? Deviating from the wider standards, it will of course be difficult for those outside of your own organisation to keep track, so I would recommend "translating" it to ordinary standard degrees before putting it out for voting here.

Blue bar with instructor's stripe on the 2019 pics, so yet another standard, deviating even from the linked "Royce Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Network Official Belt Ranking System" document. I hope you can see this causes quite some confusion, even for someone who was a Royce Gracie fan all the way back in 1993 and he had large part in why I started BJJ in the first place. But rank shown here and voted on is an ordinary red bar black belt. If you reached that (or blue bar) by first passing through years as a white bar BB, I really think you should explain that on your profile and perhaps add the white bar BB date in your promotion history (with evidence), which would then also help your promoted students in getting degrees verified.

Luis promoted Spencer with the permission of Matt Arroyo. Matt Arroyo is of more than sufficient rank to promote, and is the direct protege of Rob Kahn, who is himself a direct black belt of Royce Gracie, and one of Royce Gracie's earliest black belt promotions. So, Spencer has both a paper trail that backs this up, and Facebook datestamped records, I know all these people very well, have reff'ed their matches, and grappled all of them.
