Besides BJJ, my other hobbies are surfing and woodworking. I’m currently going through a stage where I want to use all hand tools in my wood working. Trying to better my skills at both BJJ and woodworking.

Way before I started jiujitsu, I started sport shooting. Benchrest to be accurate. I compete internationally and I'm a two-time European Champion. Good fun. Also, this summer I took up pole dancing. Man, that is hard! Good for grips and leg strength!

I love watching vids of pro shoe polishers giving tips or shining leather shoes and boots.

Have made over 50 different types of Classic cocktails so far and have amassed a bunch of liquers and bar tending/ cocktail mixing gear I would otherwise be clueless about

I find that martial arts training can be very hard on the body and mind. Taking up a hobby that is creative, calm and one that makes things rather than to destroy helps balance me and making cocktails has a positive social element that I also enjoy - make cocktails for friends and you can also limit how many they consume :)

Outside of BJJ i do quite a lot of freediving and spearfishing. It's a perfect activity for recovery after hard sessions/ a hard week and takes 100% of your concentration, so you can forget about all of your worries for a while.
Also great to catch my own food and it makes me be more healthy overall.

The reason people always get (slightly) disappointed when they find out I am not a black belt... "- But you are Brazillian". I have just spent my life in the water and only when I moved to a landlocked country I started BJJ.

Did a bit of striper fishing this summer and had a lot of fun. Planning to do a lot more next summer.

Although I’ve dabbled in pretty much every sport imaginable at some point in my life I was focusing on BJJ and volleyball until I blew out my knee in February. Once I get fully healed I look forward to returning to mats and replacing volleyball with another activity as it was just too hard on the knees. I’m thinking more hiking/mountaineering. Like everyone in Calgary I hike a little but id like to start doing more advanced trips and mountaineering.

Shew, I like to go caving, camping, and hiking. I do a lot of artsy stuff like painting, drawing, and graphics. I like to work on computers and electronics, I was an electronics tech for many years. I like to 3d print props and stuff and have been into Dungeons and Dragons since the 80's.
One of my favorite 3d printing projects was a power armor helmet from Fallout.

What are your hobbies outside BJJ. I personally have gone back and forth throughout my life with 2 main hobbies. Hunting and Rock Crawling offroad. I go through cycles with each. I am currently in a hunting cycle, and have been honing my craft at hunting over the last 5 years or so. I am finally getting better at hunting and have enjoyed some success over the last few years, and put some great high quality meat in the freezer.
Still within the realm of martial arts: judo and muay thai. Outside of that context: rock climbing

I like hamsters (like a third grader), church history (working on a PhD in it), video games and sewing. Well, not sewing so much as alterations, a skill I learned out of necessity of being so tall for a woman (6'0" / 182-183 cm). I also dabble in amateur photography.
I've decided 2021 is the year of the pockets. I'm putting pockets on my everything. Was reading this to my 7-month-old daughter the other day and suddenly a photoshop idea hit me. :-D

My family and I are avid travelers and lovers of amusement parks and rollercoasters. I've been on over 500 coasters world-wide. It's a fun diversion from all the training...

A couple years ago I picked up a guitar, just to see if I liked it, and true to form, became obsessed and now play rhythm in a band which rehearses weekly (my first gig will be in a couple months).
I am actually going to start taking lessons from a co-worker/friend of mine on the guitar! I've always loved music (especially rock and blues) but I never dedicated to learning how to play an instrument myself. Any suggestions/advice from your perspective?
As for me, I train in kickboxing outside of BJJ although lately my focus has been far more heavily based in improving in BJJ. I also love to stay fit and lift. I used to get into hitting PR's in Olympic lifts and power lifts, but now I train mostly to stay in shape and supplement my martial arts training. I also enjoy reading when I have time, and tend to go in spurts where I'll read through a book in a couple weeks or it might take me a month or two to finish one, depending on time allowance.

I collect Dr Marten and Solovair Boots. I enjoy polishing them as a form of relaxation.

When I was at Lajes Field in the Azores, I was there to test a MILSTAR Satellite Communications System. When I wasn't testing the equipment with the Raytheon folks I would work at the Cable Dawg shop as an augmentee. They issued me pole climbing boots there. They were way better than the regular combat boots. Even the AAFES Military Clothing Sales didn't carry better boots. I loved being assigned to that shop even if just as a helper. They issued me all kinds of cool gear to use.
