After a week of too little sleep, I have finally launched the academy profiles section, something that I'm slightly proud of :D

Long story short, owners of academies can now claim an academy profile, where you can do all sorts of cool stuff (more coming later). Requirement for claiming ownership of an academy is having a verified profile yourself and 5 verified and confirmed students of given academy (must be blue belts or higher). If you have this, you will see "Claim ownership of academy" button and it's a one-click setup from there.

Members of academy can be approved or rejected (will display on their profile), you can add other administrators of the profile, gallery, contact information, etc. Every registered academy also has a private forum, only accessible for the approved members.

I'm planning to add academy-specific statistics and whatever else ideas we come up with :)

Let me know if you run into any bugs, please!!

So, theoretically speaking, if I have a new academy that's mostly white belts, I can't create an academy page? I need to wait the first couple years until I've got a few blue belts?

Yeah, I'm sort of in the same boat, Kyle. Mostly white belts at my place. I have at least 5 blues, but not had much luck getting them to sign up yet. ;)

I guess you have to enforce stronger motivational initiative then :D

Same here, in Ronin Bjj Hanoi, Vietnam, Coaches are me and my brother, we are only Purple Belts, most of students is White belts, few on and off Blue belts. My Prof. now focus on MMA and Fitness in other city :( .

I can manually activate academies in these situations. I just had to build a system that would be self-sustainable at determining who are trusted academy owners at large scale. Otherwise if we suddenly have a few 100,000 users here soon, I would need a full time employee for approval and research process :)

Plus it’s a motivational factor of course ;) I think most academies should have more than five colored belts, easily.

I understand the reasoning of building a self-sustainable system, but I have an exception that cant be handled as it is built right now:
I cant claim ownership of my academy since Im not a coach there, this is a consequence of us being organized as a democratic/non-profit/hippie norwegian-communist club where being the head coach is not necessarily the same as being the owner/running the academy.
If you want me to verify my ownership via the national non-profit records or a picture of me posting with Eivind Windsrygg where he pretends that I can tell him what to do, this can be arranged ;)

"Ownership" is maybe the wrong word, there seem to be a bit of confusion about this. What is meant is ownership of the academy profile page (=administrator), not necessarily ownership in real life. I think I'll change it.

Eivind can claim the ownership/administrator role of the academy and then he can add you as a second administrator (you can have as many as you like).

"I want to gain another level in this cool BJJ MMORPG I've been playing" hasn't quite done the trick yet, I'll keep trying. :P

Bug report: there should be three "crying laughing emojis" in the last post under the quote, but it looks empty to me.

What about folks who are part of an organization but also have their own academies? Which one to list?

I'm not sure I understand. List whatever academy you like? :) Why don't you just list the organization under "affiliation"? :)
