I began with Judo in October 2006, and then with Shingitai Jujitsu (similar in structure to BJJ) in August 2008. On 10/12/2010 I earned my SJJ blue belt. On 11/29/2011 I earned my SJJ purple belt. On 07/30/2013 I earned my SJJ brown belt. In November 2014 I affiliated with Professor Roy Dean (3rd degree BJJ Black Belt) and indicated that I wanted to earn my rank under him. After our initial training session together he awarded me with a BJJ blue belt. Six months later in May 2015 he awarded me with my BJJ purple belt stating that my skill was more at that level.
