Bio
Island Brothers BJJ Team Aruba began as a humble gathering of passionate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu enthusiasts during my visits to the beautiful island of Aruba while I was a blue belt. Every session in the heart of San Nicolas was fueled by camaraderie, dedication, and a shared love for the art. What started as casual training evolved into a tight-knit community of like-minded individuals united by the spirit of Jiu-Jitsu.
Now, as a full-time resident of this island paradise, I’ve taken the next step to make Island Brothers BJJ Team Aruba an official team. With a commitment to fostering growth, discipline, and respect, we’ve built a home for practitioners of all levels to learn, improve, and share in the transformative journey of Jiu-Jitsu. Our mission is to grow the art on the island and strengthen the bonds of our Island Brothers Jiu-Jitsu family, one roll at a time.

"Legit."
"Has been around in the Dutch bjj scene, for forever. Legit black belt"
"Francis’s progression aligns with time-in-belt norms, taking about nine years from white to black belt amid consistent training at Team Agua and later affiliations. Competition records, like blue-belt participation in 2010 Flanders BJJ Cup, match claimed timelines without contradictions. For the black belt, promoter Jose Marcello Figueira Rodrigues appears to have been at least a 2nd-degree black belt in 2016, based on his current 6th-degree status under Sergio Bolão Souza (guard game fame) as of this Jan-2026 research. Respect! Is that photo of you with a purple belt your twin?"
FTYup! That's my twin in the picture 🤙🏻
