I don’t know Mr. Walls, but for me that’s a strong evidence of rank proof, when Roger Gracie was in attendance and tying the black belt around the waist of Mr. Walls.

John Walls claims Paul Busby (alone) promoted him to BB, but Paul won't be up for 2:nd degree BB until 2028.
In attendance is not same as promoted by. I've been in attendance at other academies when more junior BB:s have carried out promotions. That does not mean my attendance puts my as a senior co-promoter, so if someone claims that, you really shouldn't trust that without actual evidence. Same with Roger or whomever.
And besides no evidence, a senior co-promoter should be entered in the promoted-by-field. Not just as a comment, which can be edited at anytime without triggering re-verification (basically anyone you've already verified can add a comment under the real promoted-by-field saying "Senior co-promoter: Helio Gracie" or "Tank Abott" or whatever, so it really means nothing for verifications).
Edit: Video showing Roger tying on belt, so evidence exists, but he really should post the specific link under the black belt and also add Roger in the "Promoted by" field. As the promotion history looks now, it's incorrect and should be downvoted.
Also, has no evidence what so ever of time in BJJ before BB, other than belt confirmations from an instructor who has no promotion evidence at all on his profile.

A video of the GOAT himself tying the black belt on him and that's not good enough for you. Does it need to be any more obvious that someone deserves a black belt than that? And you still dispute it. Getting a downvote from you must be considered a right of passage here.

I’d appreciate it if you took the time to do some basic research or simply asked a clarifying question before filing a factually inaccurate dispute on my profile. Looking at your own dispute history, jumping the gun seems to be your standard modus operandi. What a great welcome to the site. No I will not be demoting myself.
The burden of proof for your rank is your responsibility, not ours. We don't all agree with the way Johan votes and we don't all agree with his reasoning for voting the way he does, but he is consistent and has very objective criteria for receiving his upvote. You may not like it, but he generally goes far beyond what should be reasonably required to determine his vote. In this case I don't see that he's suggested anything inaccurate. You are showing promotion from a BB whose own profile shows them as a no degree BB. Not difficult math. The promotion photo you posted shows him as a second degree, but that does not jive with the other dates on his profile.
It looks like you've been receiving votes for a week and are not yet confirmed or even close to it. Correct. And if Roger, Royce or Rickson registered a profile on Beltchecker and claimed in their promotion history that no degree BB Paul Busby and him alone promoted them to BB, I would down vote them as well. If you click the down vote button, you see the text "Are you sure that you want to dispute the validity of the profile information and/or belt history for...". The validity of the belt history is NOT correct if you claim you were promoted solely by someone who was not the senior black belt promoting you. I doesn't matter if I know who actually did and that it's someone very legit - your profile belt history is still not valid until it has been corrected.
Chad, what would be the problem with John Walls simply correcting his promotion history? Why should we be so desperate to up vote someone if he doesn't care enough to put in those seconds of work himself?

I am not disputing my own profile. I already said my peace about it. I wouldn't say responding to someone lying directly on my profile is a tantrum. I am not going to discuss my own profile further. If someone wants a better explanation they can contact me privately.
Edit: I do want to correct one thing you said though. My photo does not show David as a second degree. He has instructor bars on his belt.

How would it be lying to say that David is a <2:nd degree BB? You just wrote it, David writes no degree BB on his profile https://www.beltchecker.c[...]p?id=52757 and the diploma suggests maximum 1 degree possible. If David updates his profile so it says 1:st degree, I have no problem updating my dispute to saying his profile says 1:st degree instead of no degree, if that would make you feel better.
What could be better explained by you here or through private messages? If it's still a fact that your promotion history "Promoted by" for BB only says the name of a <2:nd degree BB?
If there is a 3:rd degree co-promoting instructor, just add him in the "Promoted by" field! You can write more than one name there. Plus add actual evidence!

No different than IBJJF then, besides no one getting paid! If you just send them a blank paper (or one just showing a 0-1 degree BB promoting you to black), you wouldn't get your belt verified there either. Is that IBJJF being evil and holding you as "guilty until proven innocent"?

The person throwing the tantrum never sees it that way. You have consistently called Johan a liar despite the fact that what he has said is clearly and undeniably written on the profiles in question by the very people that created the profiles. According to your own profile that you created you were not promoted to BB by a 2nd degree or higher. According to your promoting BB's own profile that they created he is not shown as a 2nd degree black belt or higher. Stating those things are not lies.

This is the way things work in the real world. Even in court you are guilty until proven innocent despite us often saying the opposite. If that wasn't the case we wouldn't bother with a trial and a signed warrant or probable cause for arrest would be sufficient for conviction. Once either of those come to pass you are arrested and assumed guilty until you prove otherwise. Would you let someone operate on you just because they said they could do it? Or would you want proof beyond reasonable doubt that they were actually a surgeon with the appropriate training and skills to do the job?

Some judges are more strict, some more lenient, but if they are consistent, that is as close to fairness as we typically get, in this universe.
And, all who are confirmed in their ranks, may vote their conscience, as their conscience dictates.
Judges can be removed, however.
If enough people thought any one person was voting in an inappropriate manner, they could simply aggregately vote them down, until that party could vote no more.
That would not necessarily be a "revenge vote" either, but another self-regulating dynamic of this site, and it's ability to self-govern.
It would be similar to any other community recalling or removing a judge, if the community felt that particular judge was not wielding their judgement powers in appropriate manners.
Or in this case, voting that a particular person was not fit to have the voting privileges associated with their given rank.
However, if it was simply for retribution, and not for moral conscience regarding their voting practices, then that would simply be revenge voting.
People voting have the same presumption of innocence, as those they vote on, no more, no less.

What's the lineage of Anthony Tran? Correct that he got his BB in 2022 and thus was only a 1:st degree BB when promoting you to black? If Jocelyn Chang was senior co-promoter, I would really recommend you explicitly write that (add her in the "Promoted by" field) instead of "signed off", which isn't the same thing (and isn't even universally recognized as being "a thing"). https://www.instagram.com[...]ioVJ9RJxD/

There are a lot of unverified profiles with pretty sparse evidence, and the whole ecosystem only works if we collectively review promotions and add corroboration. I’m noticing a handful of pending black belt and black+ profiles that seem well-supported and relatively uncontroversial, but they’ve been sitting unverified longer than I expected. Hello, new here. I found this site courtesy of one of my coaches, Steve Brown. I’m hoping to get more of the black belts and students at my academy interested in BeltChecker.
I’ve done my best of populate a lot of evidence in here.
I am perhaps best described as an (older) grappling mongrel currently focused on BJJ with a strong interest in personal protection / self defense, although I have competed in BJJ competitions, and many times in the distant past in Japanese jujitsu, judo, and sambo. Back in the day (early 2000’s) my students and I used to travel around the southeast area competing in generic “grappling competitions” that were held in the southeast before BJJ competitions became more common.

I had a verified profile, just updated my belt to 1st Degree Black after 3 years at Black Belt, but no one is voting to verify it .... I just assumed people stop checking this site ?? I could use a little love !
